Shwetha Srinivasan is an associate in the Defense Division at Cohen & Blostein, where she focuses on civil litigation and medical malpractice defense. She brings over a decade of legal experience to the firm, with a background that includes trial advocacy, judicial research and analysis, and client-centered representation in both public and private sectors.
Shwetha earned her Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, graduating cum laude. While in law school, she was awarded the Beasley Scholarship and the Outstanding Oral Advocacy Award, served as a Research Assistant to Professor William Carter, and interned with both the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and the Defender Association of Philadelphia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor.
Before joining Cohen & Blostein, Shwetha served for over seven years as a Judicial Staff Attorney in Florida’s Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, where she conducted legal research and drafted memoranda, orders, and legal analyses for high-level criminal cases. She also has experience as a public defender in Miami-Dade County, where she represented clients in felony cases through all stages of litigation, including trials, depositions, negotiations, and sentencing hearings. Her background also includes roles with Children’s Legal Services, where she advocated on behalf of children in dependency court, and as a Veteran Affairs attorney, where she assisted clients in navigating benefits appeals and administrative claims.
Shwetha is admitted to practice in Florida and has developed, through her diverse experiences, unique strengths in critical thinking, legal research and writing, trial preparation, negotiation, and case management. She is an exceptional legal writer and experienced mentor of junior attorneys and interns.
